hey. this section is not being written by the pals, but rather, the people who made the pals.
if you want to know what this whole NetPal lore thing is about, then you've come to both the right place.
netpal originated as a mascot for the 3ds homebrew app NetPass. NetPass lets you get streetpasses via the internet, so you don't need to walk around with your 3ds.
since nobody carries around their 3ds anymore, this is really helpful for games that use streetpass a lot, such as Kid Icarus Uprising and Bravely Default. (you basically need to have streetpass for bravely default
building the town and getting abilities without it is a hellscape)
the netpass discord server is where NetPal got originated. in the #art channel, you can search up netpal and one of the first results will be the first 2 pictures of netpal.
at that time, he was known as netfriend until someone suggested the name netpal the same day the drawings were made.
fast foward a couple months after the server was made and PCJava (one of the most iconic members of the netpass server) creates a thread called NetPal lore. at the time, it was just
NetPal vs. Evil NetPal. until a person named Noobington creates an OC called SpotPal, based off of SpotPass. which causes me to make a joke about "Download Play Pal when."
then someone called Space Dancer decides to take that seriously and makes art of DownloadPal, and makes a PluralKit bot about it. Then he makes more Pals. Then more of us join in on this.
i create zonepal, based off of nintendo zone. Traplog, another member, creates NotePal. XPN joins after a bit and makes HealthPal, based off of the health and safety info app.
soon we have what is basically like 7 pals, and I decide to make a doc that lists all the pals, their creators, their personalities and traits.
then, at that moment, I decide to add a section at the bottom that tells the lore of the pals, and then Traplog makes an SCP Tales-style thing there, and suddenly shit hits the fan as we start writing the deepest shit imaginable.
we had Tim complain about parts of our lore while giving us ideas, which results in us having to reboot the whole beginning of the lore.
and yeah. that's basically it. there is a couple more things related to this but overall this is the main part of this whole lore thing.
